How to get Shiny Galarian Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres in Pokémon

Along with Calyrex, the biggest surprise in The Crown Tundra DLC for Pokémon Sword and Shield was the reveal that the Legendary Bird Trio from the Kanto region—Zapdos, Articuno and Moltres—will get Galarian Forms. Now that The Crown Tundra is available, so are these three special Legendary Pokémon. Unlike catching Calyrex or some of the other Legendary Pokémon you’ll find in the DLC, the three Legendary Birds will take some patience and a lot of exploring on the part of the trainer.

To catch the Galarian Legendary Birds, trainers must embark on a quest in The Crown Tundra DLC. They begin their adventure by visiting the Dyna Tree located in the southernmost region of the area. Upon arrival, players will witness a cutscene where the trio is fighting amongst themselves, only to fly away once they notice the trainer's presence. This exciting encounter sets the stage for the hunt for these elusive Pokémon!

Each Legendary Bird roams different areas of the Galar region, making the search both thrilling and challenging. Unlike previous encounters that required searching in the grass for random Pokémon, these Legendary Birds can be spotted flying in the overworld. This makes for a more dynamic and engaging experience, demanding skill and strategy from trainers. So, let's dive deeper into how you can find and catch each of these stunning creatures!

Finding Galarian Zapdos

Galarian Zapdos can be located in the Wild Area of the main Galar region. This Flying and Fighting-type Pokémon is known for its speed and agility. When trainers get close enough, it will take off running, making it a challenge to catch.

To successfully track down Galarian Zapdos, trainers should adopt an effective strategy. One effective method is to get parallel to the Pokémon and use your bike to catch up before it reaches its top speed. Continuous pursuit without allowing it to rest can also help, as it will eventually slow down enough for you to close the gap.

Galarian Zapdos brings a powerful arsenal of moves to the table, including Drill Peck, Reversal, Focus Energy, and its signature move Thunderous Kick. With patience and persistence, trainers can add this impressive Pokémon to their collection!

Finding Galarian Articuno

Galarian Articuno resides within The Crown Tundra and can be seen flying high above. When trainers approach, it will create copies of itself in a dazzling display. However, the real challenge lies in discerning the authentic Articuno from its illusions.

To initiate a battle with the real Galarian Articuno, trainers will need to locate the true form among the duplicates. This Flying and Psychic-type Pokémon boasts a unique set of moves, including Hurricane, Psycho Cut, Psycho Shift, and its signature move Freezing Glare. Finding this elusive creature requires keen observation and quick reflexes!

Finding Galarian Moltres

Galarian Moltres can be found soaring over The Isle of Armor. Trainers will need to be tactful in their approach, as this Flying and Dark-type Pokémon will only engage in battle if it spots you. To initiate the encounter, it’s essential to position yourself in front of Moltres.

Once you catch its attention, Galarian Moltres will engage you in battle, showcasing its impressive moves. It is equipped with Nasty Plot, Sucker Punch, Hurricane, and its signature attack Fiery Wrath. With careful planning and strategy, trainers can successfully capture this fiery Legendary Pokémon!
