Even longtime Christina Aguilera fans couldn't believe the "Beautiful" singer's new — yet surprisingly familiar — look in some of her most recent photos. On Tuesday, October 22, Aguilera, 43, posted a series of images to her Instagram account in celebration of Halloween, dressing in orange and black and posing in front of a spooky, decorated tree with partner Matt Rutler. Her post quickly went viral as fans were captivated by her stunning appearance and nostalgic style.
"My favorite time of the year 🎃🍂👻," the "Genie in a Bottle" artist captioned the slideshow, which featured her wearing a form-fitting, floor-length orange gown with a deep cutout clasped together with black fabric and pins. Aguilera wore her long, blonde hair stick-straight — a throwback for fans who remembered the style was her trademark look in the '90s and 2000s.
Fans were so floored by Aguilera's aesthetic that they felt like they were seeing her debut for the first time — or at least reliving it. "Literally in your 20s you look so good," one person commented. "She looks like she's literally just [starting] her prime," another follower gushed. Others could simply feel her confidence radiating off the screen.
"Christina Aguilera's IG has been my favorite follow recently. She is GLOWING," a third user commented. No matter fans' opinions — even as positive as they are — Aguilera knows that the only commentary that matters is her own. "When you're a teenager, you have a very different body than when you're in your 20s," the "What a Girl Wants" singer recalled to Glamour magazine earlier this year, noting how she was heavily criticized for her weight gain at the time.
"I started to fill out, and then that was unacceptable because it was like, 'Oh, she's getting thicker.' Then I had industry people: 'They liked your body and how you were as a skinny teenager.'" Today, however, Aguilera — who is a mom of two — pays no mind to anyone who has anything negative to say about her looks. "I have a maturity now where I just don't give a f*** about your opinion. I'm not going to take it on," she told Glamour. "It must be your responsibility to take up your space. Other people's opinions of me are not my business."
