The Pokémon Company delivered a short look into the Generation 8 games during the Pokémon Direct on Wednesday morning, and it included a lot of tidbits that fans can analyze for months until its release, especially with the new Starters. Pokémon Shield and Pokémon Sword will give trainers a brand new partner to start their adventures in the Galar region with. These three Pokémon are Grookey, Scorbunny, and Sobble.
Besides their typing, Wednesday's Direct revealed relatively little information about the three starter Pokémon. However, from the trailer and official site, fans can get a sense of what to expect from their choice. Here's everything we know about Grookey, Scorbunny, and Sobble so far.
Grookey: The Mischievous Grass-Type Starter
Grookey is the chimp Pokémon and a pure Grass-type. Its description from the Pokémon site describes it as "mischievous and full of boundless curiosity." During the Pokémon Sword and Shield reveal trailer, Grookey uses the stick it holds in its hair as a toy. It's seen banging on a rock to make a loud noise, which scares Sobble.
As it evolves, Grookey may use this stick in battle more prominently, but we will have to wait and see what the evolutions look like. Grookey's playful nature and unique abilities are sure to capture the hearts of trainers everywhere!

There are strips of tan-colored fur on the soles of Scorbunny's feet, which could be where the fire comes from and gives the Pokémon its speed. This strip is also found above Scorbunny's nose.
