Escalating Tensions: The Ongoing Conflict Between Israel And Iran

The weekend conflagration between Israel and Iran has once again left the Middle East region on the brink of a major war, with Israeli allies and enemies alike poised for fresh retaliation after Tehran's drone and missile bombardment.

Iran's mission to the United Nations declared that "the matter can be deemed concluded" after a series of attacks which saw around 170 drones, over 30 cruise missiles, and more than 120 ballistic missiles fired at Israel. With a standing army of about 170,000 active personnel and 465,000 reservists, Israel maintains a highly trained and equipped military. In contrast, Iran's larger population reflects in its military strength, boasting around 420,000 personnel with substantial reserves.
