Welcome to another day of trying to work out the Wordle puzzle. The daily word game went viral in 2021 when it was released at the height of the coronavirus pandemic and, within months, had millions of users around the world. Players love the simplicity of the game, which requires them to work out a mystery five-letter word by typing in a guess on the Wordle app or website.

Players are aided by colored tiles that provide clues, including green tiles which indicate that a letter is in the correct spot. Yellow tiles signify that a letter appears in the word, but not in the correct position, while gray indicates that the letter is not part of that day's word at all. To tackle this daily brain teaser, players strive to guess the word in six attempts or fewer.

The game was invented in 2013 by Josh Wardle, a New York-based software engineer, who admitted that even he sometimes struggles to solve it. "Well, I did create Wordle and I’m not very good at it, so there’s your answer! I’m afraid I’m not really the best," Wardle shared with Newsweek in 2022 when asked about his skill as a player. He enjoys playing with his partner each morning, who often solves it in just three tries, while he typically needs four or five attempts.
