The Dark-type Pokémon Zorua is a more recentPokémon Go addition, and is in high demand. It's a great addition to any team and it happens to evolve into Zoroark, another Pokémon that’s well worth evolving Zorua for if you have the ability to do so.
But to do that, first you need a Zorua, and unfortunately, it’s not exactly the simplest Pokémon to find out in the wild. Also, it’s not always available, which throws a wrench into things. Spawns come and go, like the most recent end of the Season of Light event that featured the fox-like Pokémon.
To make matters worse (because there always needs to be a catch with some of these monsters), Zorua has the uncanny ability to disguise itself as other Pokémon, like everyone’s favorite bubblegum pink Ditto. So when you capture a Pokémon, it could potentially be Zorua and you wouldn’t even know it.
If you want a Zorua, you’d better be ready to put up a fight or at least deal with some inconvenience that might be annoying for a while. In the end though, we’ve got your back, so read on if you need help capturing this wily Pokémon.
How to Catch and Evolve Zorua
Zorua is good at transforming into other Pokémon, but not exactly like you might be familiar seeing Ditto do in-game. Instead, it mimics whatever the player’s Buddy Pokémon might be at the time, so if you have a Pikachu set as your Buddy Pokémon and it’s one commonly found in an area, that means you’ll have an even more difficult time finding an actual Zorua. You’ll just start seeing a ton of Pikachu.
As such, using a more difficult-to-find Pokémon is your best bet to bag a Zorua. If you’re in an area that you know will spawn Zorua, it’s a safe bet to set your Buddy Pokémon as a rarer one that you know you won’t be seeing anytime soon. If one of them happens to appear in the wild, chances are you’ve found a Zorua. Then just move to capture it like you normally would. It’s otherwise a fairly pedestrian battle.
If you want to evolve Zorua into Zoroark, you obviously first need to catch a Zorua. You’ll also need 50 Zorua Candy, which you’ll have to collect when capturing Zorua. Simply collect 50 pieces, and you can then use them to evolve your Zorua into the hardy Zoroark you’ve been wishing for. Using Pinap Berries can help speed up the process while you’re out looking to catch Zorua, but this can understandably be a bit of a time-consuming process. It’s well worth it in the end, though.
Pokémon Go is available to play for free on iOS and Android now.
