A video of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz seemingly blasting North Carolina Lieutenant Governor Mark Robinson's alleged Nazi comments gained traction on social media Saturday. The political landscape has been shaken as Robinson's gubernatorial campaign faces serious allegations stemming from a CNN report. This report accuses Robinson of making racist and sexist posts on a pornography site over a decade ago, a claim that he has vehemently denied, labeling the allegations as “salacious tabloid lies.”

Robinson’s campaign, supported by former President Donald Trump, is now under scrutiny after CNN revealed that between 2008 and 2012, he allegedly posted inflammatory remarks on a message board associated with the adult site Nude Africa, including a troubling self-identification as a “black Nazi.” The severity of these claims has sparked widespread discussion and condemnation in the political arena.

Interestingly, the CNN report linked Robinson to posts made under the username “minisoldr,” which reportedly included praise for Adolf Hitler's manifesto, Mein Kampf. In one notable thread, the user allegedly stated, “Mein Kampf is a good read. It’s very informative and not at all what I thought it would be. It’s a real eye-opener.” Such sentiments have further fueled the fire of controversy surrounding Robinson's candidacy.

During a campaign stop in Allentown, Pennsylvania, Walz took the opportunity to critique Robinson directly, referencing the historical context of Minnesota and Pennsylvania in defeating Nazi Germany. He remarked, “Together, it was our people that built the tanks that won World War II and freed the world from Nazi oppression. I don’t know if you noticed Nazi tyranny, we got folks running as Republicans for governor that are proud to refer to themselves as Nazis.” This bold statement has reverberated through social media platforms.

Newsweek has reached out to both the Harris-Walz campaign and Robinson's campaign for comments regarding the ongoing situation. As the political climate heats up, a video of Walz's comments has amassed over 590,400 views on X, previously known as Twitter, further amplifying the discussion surrounding Robinson's controversial past. This situation highlights the ongoing tensions and divisions within American politics, particularly as the election date approaches.

Fred Wellman, host of the On Democracy podcast, shared his thoughts on the situation, emphasizing the importance of truth in political discourse. Meanwhile, Robinson's campaign has responded to the allegations by blaming his Democratic opponent, Josh Stein, for fabricating lies about him. This back-and-forth illustrates the complexities and fierce rivalries that characterize today's political landscape.
